Welcome to issue #031 of Insideletter!
Each week, I share 2–3 editions in which I outline the exact steps to build a newsletter business to £1K a month.
Whenever I say that a newsletter can give you a business, please stare at me. Like if I have done any offence.
Because people can’t really think that a newsletter can be a business.
Well, I know the reason, because people just write (nowadays, copy and paste with AI) and send it to a bunch of people.
That’s not how you build a newsletter business.
So, today I’ll talk about 5 ways to monetise a newsletter.
Let’s get started.
1. Coaching/community
People love to get free stuff, and when you consider a newsletter like insideletter, you know that value is the main game.
People can build their own newsletter just by reading Insideletter.
But implementation is hard, and getting feedback is a must.
They won’t get it with the free edition.
So, they would look for a step ahead, they would look for a way to connect with you 1:1.
And that can be your paid 1:1 call or a community where they can learn with 5 other people, because accountability matters a lot.
2. Paid subscription
If you’re giving enough value, then you’re on the right path, but if you want to monetise your newsletter, then you’ve to launch a paid tier.
It’s for the exclusive content, because there are some things which shouldn’t be free. After all,
A. People don’t value free stuff
B. You need to make some money with your newsletters.
3. Sponsorship
There are a couple of brands or company that wants to promote their products, so they might reach out to you, or you can reach out to them in order to get the partnership.
But there is a thing to understand.
They will look for audience size and engagement. Also, you need to understand whether your audience will be familiar with the product or not.
4. Affiliate marketing
Back in 2020, a person chased me for a chain business. You know it very well, adding 5 other people under you, training them and asking them to promote the product. It was horrible how the thing works. So, I had a negative idea of affiliate marketing.
But when I actually understood how it works, then it changed my mind
You can promote someone else’s course or product via your newsletter and get a commission.
Okay, the final one…
5. Digital products
People are making thousands by creating their digital products. And if you’re not creating, then you’re missing out on a huge portion of your revenue.
Now, the thing is, how can you create a digital product?
Here’s the step-by-step process:
A. First, identify your ICP.
B. Then, identify the problems your ICP faces.
C. Then, for each problem, create an eBook or mini course that solves the problem.
Then you can use any platform like Lemon Squeezy to upload it and sell.
Hope it will help you. Thanks for reading.
